Weight Loss Pills For Women

Posted by Jessica under Main Content

Thanks to the world’s changing lifestyle, women in every corner of the globe are losing control of their weight and struggling with obesity. When diet and exercise are just not enough, many women turn to weight loss pills advertised on the television and in magazines. What most women do not know is that different weight loss pills for women work in very different ways. Just because your best friend lost ten pounds with one pill does not mean that it is necessarily going to work for you. To figure out which pills will have the best results with your body type, the first step is to understand and become familiar with weight loss pills for women and how they work.

There are three groups of weight loss pills for women:

First are the Calorie Burners: Stimulates is the key word in these types of pills. Stimulates will increase your metabolism, though only temporarily, and increase the number of calories you burn while exercising. Though these sound pretty basic they will also increase not only the amount of calories you burn but your blood pressure, heart rate, and anxiety. The ingredient that makes these calorie burners efficient is green tea, caffeine, and guarana. They can also contain a dangerous “natural herbal” ingredient called ephedra or ma huang. Women have lost weight with ma huang or ephedra and have not had any momentous side effects.

Next are the Appetite Suppressants: These weight loss pills for women include calorie burning stimulates, Citrimax, and CLA. Citrimax is a fruit that comes from Garcinia cambogia and CLA stands for Conjugated Linoleic Acid. In many studies Citrimax has appeared to be perfectly safe and helps control a woman’s appetite, it may also assist the user in not regaining any weight lost. CLA is also safe, but has not been proven to help curve an appetite. Prescription drugs that are used to lose weight, such as Redux, Buproprion, and Phen-Phen work by reducing the appetite. Serious side effects can occur in many of these weight loss drugs, for example heart valve damage can occur when using Phen-Phen. Most of the time, weight loss is seen within two to six months of using appetite suppressants. Studies have shown that if you do not lose about four pounds between four weeks on a certain appetite suppressants, then usually that certain weight loss pill will probably not help you lose a great amount of weight.

Finally are the Absorption Blockers: Weight loss pills for women that use absorption blockers, block a woman’s intestine from taking up fats (Chitosan) or carbohydrates (Carbo Blockers). This makes sure that a greater amount of what you eat and drink is digested. Carbo blockers can be made from beans, either white kidney beans or soybeans, which would seem like they would be pretty safe. Many clinical studies though have shown that a great amount of copper and zinc is lost from the body, and they usually do not help when it comes to losing weight. Also, if absorption blockers do work by taking more fat out of the body along with everything else, they can take out the “good” fat vitamins that you need (such as vitamins A and D).

Choosing any of the above pills is an option, but it is important to remember that diet pills work best with a healthy diet and adequate exercise. Most of the time, weight loss pills for women take longer to work and require a lot more exercise than what the company is advertising. It is important to remember that just because a weight loss pill is sold over-the-counter does mean that it is safe. The FDA does not test many of these types of products because they are labeled as “nutritional supplements”. So, you should be wary of what the label is telling you and what is in the bottle, it may be keeping out some important ingredients that could seriously harm you. Also, remember that just because a diet pill claims to be “herbal” or “all natural” should not be taken as an assurance of safety. Women who are breastfeeding or pregnant should stay away from all weight loss pills.
