Top 3 Questions on Cellulite Answered

Posted by Jessica under Main Content

Cellulite is a problem for many women, here are the top concerns, and their answers, about cellulite.

Q. Can you get rid of cellulite once you have got it?

A. In some sense you can. When you lose fat you can also lose the amount of cellulite you have acquired. Realistically though, a body without cellulite cannot physically happen for everyone. Your weight is not always a factor when it comes to having, or not having, cellulite. There are people who are very overweight and do not have an inch of cellulite, while those who are thin who do have it.

*Studies so far have shown that by maintaining a healthy diet and adequate exercise (as hard and annoying as they are) can help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Q. What is cellulite?

A. Cellulite is simply body fat. Cellulite has a rippled appearance because it is separated into sections due to connective tissue that lay deep in the skin. Depending on the amount of fat you have in-between sections has an impact on its rippled appearance. So, the by getting rid of the excess fat in-between sections, you can also get rid of the dimples and bulges.

In some cases, the dimpled appearance of cellulite can not only be due to the volume of fat but the durability of your connective tissue. If your connective tissue is weak or thin, cellulite will show up more. So, while also watching your weight, anything else you do that protects the elasticity of your skin could help reduce your cellulite and prevent it.

Other factors that could play a role in causing cellulite are: smoking, tanning, and a ton of antioxidants from veggies and fruits. It is important to remember that scientist’s are not sure exactly how big, if any, role these factor’s play in cellulite.

Q. Okay, well do lotions and potions work at reducing cellulite?

A. Scientifically, there has not been any evidence that lotions work in any way. This also goes for Mesotherapy. Mesotherapy is an anti-fat and cellulite treatment that is injected into your skin to “melt away” your fat and dissolving the connective tissue that causes a rippled appearance.

It is possible that Mesotherapy does work but is has yet to be closely studied and has not been established as the best way to solve the problem of cellulite.
